Construction toys are toys that use interchangeable parts to play. The parts are joined together to construct models like houses, cars or aeroplanes and once completed they are used as toys or taken apart to make new models. Construction toys are more elaborate than other toys and may come with additional accessories. An example of a construction toy is LEGO. Construction toys can be made out of different materials like metal, wood, foam or plastics. Today, most are made of plastics because they are cheaper and easier to produce.
Like wooden toys, construction toys encourage imaginative play and lateral thinking. Construction sets appeal to children who like to work with their hands and problem-solving.
